Why Do We Fat Freeze Before Skin Tightening?

Fat freezing was recently 'passed' as a viable treatment for fat loss by Michael Mosely on the BBC1 series 'The Truth About Cosmetic Treatments' - part 2. As non invasive, painless and successful treatment our bookings increase every week.
Fat freezing works by killing fat cells in a specific area. The dead cells leave the body as waste. Each area treated can lose up to 40% of the fat cells in that area. Most clients book for at least two body areas at a time.
We get asked if they can book HIFU (skin tightening and collagen renewal) straight after each fat freeze.
Yes, is the answer. When the fat in a specific body area reduces, it can leave lax skin. Clients want to see less fat and more firmness in the area and using the combination of fat freezing then HIFU afterwards the area will tighten and lift.
When we offer a course of fat freezing eg: on upper and lower tummy, it's usually because the client has too much in that area to reduce in one session to satisfy their goals. If a client is having more than one cryolypolosis (fat freezing) treatment on the same area, the skin will loosen as there is now less plumping out the skin.

We also take into account how firm a body area is before we use fat freezing. When the area is too firm it doesn't always 'give' enough to fill a fat freezing 'cup' so it may take one to three sessions to lose the fat cells others would lose in one session. In these instances, we offer HIFU to tighten the area after monitoring laxity of the skin after each session.
Some clients see changes in other, related areas of the body eg: in the top before and after photos you can clearly see that reducing fat on this clients upper and lower tummy has resulted in some laxity but it's also drawn in the tummy and reduced the roll on her upper back flank. A nice result!
When we reduce fat on inner thighs most clients want the upper part of the thigh reduced. Sometimes this isn't the best plan as it is often the lower thigh that is 'dragging' on the upper thigh. In these cases we recommend reducing both the lower and upper thigh before tightening the skin.
If you have any questions or want to book a consultation, get in touch on our Facebook page, email or by phone.
As with any aesthetic treatment we do advocate an increase of water, light exercise and a balanced life style.
