We always see a change after HIFU. The rejuvenation of the skin is due to the renewal of the collagen in the deepest layer of the skin, the SMAS.
We describe the SMAS as a the 'fascia' that holds the skin on to the muscles.
HIFU non surgical skin tightening works because we can work on several depths in the skin layers. High intensity focused ultrasound uses varied cartridges to reach each layer of the skin ensuring that each layer is stimulated. Even 3mm micro needling cannot do this. We use Dermapen4 to stimulate the epidermis and dermis up to 3mm with dermaceuticals as well.
Imagine that the SMAS looks like a woven blanket. When the ultrasound is applied, the blanket contracts as it is heated up from 60 -to 70C in one 'shot' from the HIFU machine. There is no pain at all for the client. In this way, fat cells are melted and the renewal of collagen is stimulated over the next few months.
Targeting the deep dermis and the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) leads to collagen denature, new collagen synthesis, skin tightening and lifting.
As the collagen reforms, the outer appearance of the skin smooths and plumps. The skin tightens and lifts. Cheeks and jowls fat reduces, pores close and the skin looks more refined.
Some clients will require more than one treatment depending on their lifestyle and age.
We also use this treatment on the body to lift and tighten skin on body areas like the tummy and thighs. We do advise that the area should be too heavy for example, It is best to reduce the fat in the lower tummy before tightening the skin.
